Description

RAKETERM is a system of renovation of external facades and thermal lagging for new and old buildings. It is based on reinforced composite panels with polyurethane foam thermal layer and mineral covered surface. The covering layer of the panel is made from clinker tiles that are jointed with cement mortar. The main components of the insulation layer are polyurethane foam and pre-foamed polystyrene prills that are used as filler. The back of the thermal insulation layer is reinforced with glass fibre reinforcing mesh. The external wall with installed RAKETERM panels looks like a brick wall with finished joints. The connection of the panels is dense and ensures moisture proof and windproof qualities. There are also corner and lintel panels in RAKETERM selection. To increase heat insulation an extra layer of thermal insulation material can be added between the walls and panels.
 
Due to their lightness and resistance the RAKETERM panels can be installed as a cover to almost every external construction with or without vent. RAKETERM is suitable both for facades of private homes, apartment buildings and business buildings. It may be used for repairing of the facades in renovation or for new buildings.
 
The cover surface of the panels gives them mechanical strength and protects the panels from environmental influence. It is very difficult to drill a hole or to scratch it. It does not deform from hand or leg kicks. Therefore, RAKETERM is very suitable for covering facades or facade parts that have a bigger external load (e.g. schools, kindergartens, malls and department stores, sport facilities etc.)
 
The facade cover system RAKETERM is tested in the Technical Research Centre in Finland, European Technical Approval ETA-08/0306 was accepted in 03.08.2009 and EC-Certificate of Conformity no: 1504-CPD-133/09 was issued in 08.10.2009 by Certification Centre of Tallinn Ubiversity of Tehnology.
AS Rake was attested in 2009 and a certificate was issued about the companies quality management systems correspondence with the standard ISO 9001:2008 in “Manufacturing, sale and installation of the thermal insulation and covering systems of the facade”.

Advantages

Installing RAKETERM facade panels is easy and quick and does not require any special training. The panels can be installed year-round. The panels can be installed to the lightweight base frame or directly on the wall, with or without vent.
 
RAKETERM panels do not need special care during their use. If needed, they can be washed easily, even with pressure wash. The clinker slab cover is resistant to cold, has a low water absorption level, is acid and alkali proof and makes the product waterproof. It is easy to replace damaged slabs and make their joints.
 
Due to their lightness and resistance the RAKETERM panels can be installed as a cover to almost every external construction with or without vent. Unlike ordinary brick wall the system does not need any additional foundation; the panels are hanged on the wall. Thanks to its lightness the facade cover does not burden the load-bearing structures of the building.
 
The water vapour permeability is sufficient for the movement of steam occurring in the building into external environment, where the steam concentration is lower, avoiding thereby progressive accumulation of moisture in wall constructions during the whole year.
 
In normal use and weather conditions, RAKETERM facade panels do not fall apart; they are poison free and odourless. The products do not include components that could mould or rot. They do not contain dangerous substances that could pose a threat to human health or environment. The cover surface of the panels makes them fireproof, gives mechanical strength and aesthetic outlook as well as protects the panels from environmental influence.

Main advantages over competing technologies are simultaneous stone lining, thermal insulation and wind barrier and possibility to install it on frame.

Innovative aspects (ecologic, social and economic)

Environmental Aspects
Due to low fuel prices in the second part of the last century, the economical value of the external walls was less important, therefore the buildings that were built during that period in our region have 3-5 times higher thermal transmittance in comparison with the Scandinavian data. RAKETERM facade panels enable to increase thermal insulation of the buildings and thereby decrease heating energy demand.

Social Aspects
The insufficient thermal insulation and the poor quality of the facade can cause moulding and dampness. RAKETERM panels increase thermal insulation; they are poison free and odourless. The products do not include components that could mould or rot. They do not contain dangerous substances that could pose a threat to human health or environment.

Economic Aspects
RAKETERM facade panels enable to reduce costs. Less thermal transmittance results in lower energy consumption and operating costs. In one harsh winter the energy amount that evaporates into the air through a 100 m2 surface of the facade can exceed tens of thousands kilowatt-hours.
