Description

In Kuressaare, Estonia the company has built a complete AEROC solution house, which is very energy efficient and according to calculations and Estonian energy labels corresponds to grade A. The house has all the terrestrial part of AEROC aerated concrete products and extra insulation has been used in floors and roof. Exterior walls are made of limestone blocks EcoTerm Plus 500 and finished with plaster. It is possible to build very well insulated walls with EcoTerm Plus blocks without having to use extra insulation. The thermal conductivity is 0,22 W/m2K for EcoTerm Plus 375 and 0,17 W/m2K for EcoTerm Plus 500. The building in Kuressaare has very low energy consumption. The calculated energy performance is 90 kWh/m2 per year. In addition to excellent energy efficiency characteristics the building looks great and fits in the surroundings. Advantages

Thanks to a heatproof material AEROC EcoTerm Plus is a unique building block on the market. This is the only stone block for external walls that can be stacked in single layer and do not require additional insulation. Without extra insulation the walls are easy and quick to build, resulting a time-resistant wall structure. EcoTerm Plus blocks are suitable for the construction of additional floors and in renovation where added load-bearing structures must be minimized. The main advantages are:
  • Weatherproof - the thick external wall made of EcoTerm Plus blocks smooth temperature fluctuations;

  • Fireproof - it does not burn very well and has a fire class A1;

  • Soundproof – AEROC has many pores that are filled with air, which gives good noise resistance to this material;

  • Easy to process – the material can be handled and processed as easy as wood;

  • Ecological – the material does not contain or emit any harmful substances. It breathes and creates a pleasant and healthy micro climate, which is comparable to the wooden house;

  • Light but strong – It is the lightest rock material which has sufficient strength for building bearing walls;

  • Energy efficient – Blocks can be used for building well insulated external walls without the need for extra insulation

Innovative aspects (ecologic, social and economic)

Environmental aspects:
AEROC EcoTerm Plus blocks can be used for building houses with excellent energy efficiency. Reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions is one of the main aims for the European Union. The production follows ISO standards and company provides high quality, modern building materials with environmentally friendly and sustainable production and use. The result is a homemade rock which is made of ecologically clean materials and do not contain or emit any harmful substances. Company`s goal is to use natural resources sustainably and to achieve environmental objectives implement the best available techniques and technology. AEROC aerated concrete products do not leave production residues because all is collected and reused as raw material.

Social aspects:

Aeroc Ltd is a company belonging to group AEROC International. The company has prepared aerated concrete products in Estonia near Kunda since 2001. Since then it has been a major employer in the region. From the same county all the basic raw material –sand, cement and lime can be found.
The company carries out its quality and environmental activities according to international standards ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004. In daily activities the environment and safety at work meets all the required standards and creates safe and pleasant working conditions for the employees.

Economic aspects:
Blocks are a little bit more expensive than other building blocks. Thanks to light weight they are easier and cheaper to transport and handle. Thanks to bad thermal conductivity blocks insulate very well and there is no need for extra insulation, which would cost extra money. Also the heating bills are much lower during the exploitation of the building.

Application examples

The blocks are used mainly to build private houses, but there has been completed also several apartment houses and public buildings. In other words, blocks can be used everywhere. Aerated blocks have also proven their resistance in cold climate like  Scandinavian countries and are used widely.
