Description

An Estonian LLC offers cellulose insulation, which is very suitable for northern climate. Cellulose wool breathes and therefore prevents mold and offers pleasant indoor climate. Cellulose is a natural material and therefore can be used in buildings where allergic or some other way sensitive people like elderly or children live. The cellulose wool has a high U-value and makes the building windproof, resistant to cold and offers a good noise barrier. It also creates an excellent opportunity to achieve good energy efficiency.
Cellulose wool can be used in floors, roofs, walls, lofts etc. Usage is unlimited because cellulose wool is bulked or strewed in places where needed. In the same way it is possible to insulate timber houses, apartment buildings, hospitals, kindergartens, schools, hotels, churches, health centers and public buildings. It can also be used in garages and cold hangars, halls and lofts.

Advantages

Cellulose is a healthy material and suitable for cold, wet climate. The material is highly energy efficient cause U-value is 0,041 W/m2K, making material a good heat control and a poor heat conductor. Unlike mineral wool cellulose regulates moisture and protects the building against mold. The most important reasons to prefer cellulose are:
  1. Recyclable product that binds moisture and breathes
  2. Pollutant free
  3. Is warm in cold conditions and cold in warm
  4. Fire shelter
  5. Protects construction
  6. Protects against mold
  7. Protection against radon
  8. Provides pleasant indoor air
  9. Accumulates noise
  10. Economical installation

Innovative aspects (ecologic, social and economic)

Environmental aspects (product is environmentally friendly because):
  1. Material is organic and consists about 80% of wood fibres. Also the printing inks are natural and based on natural oils and pigments.

  2. Added borides are not volatile or toxic to human health or environment. Material contains only about 20% of borides.

  3. The material can be reused after demolishing a building. It can be composted or simply spread on the fields as fertilizer.

Social aspects:
Cellulose wool is produced in Estonia and all different components of the material are obtained from Estonia, Latvia, Finland and Turkey. Main component for product is waste paper like old newspapers. Company provides housing corporations to collect waste paper and sell it for cellulose production knowing that these newspapers will go to a new life-cycle. Material is packaged in paper bags weighing an average of 18-20 kg and is very easy to install.

Economic aspects:
Cellulose insulation is much more effective than other insulations. It costs slightly more than others but performs better because it is pulverized in walls, floors or roofs and therefore it fills effectively all openings or holes. In an energy efficient and well insulated building the indoor climate is better, people are healthier, heating bills are lower and the payback time of the insulation is shorter.

Application examples

Product is currently sold in Estonian market and mostly for people who are renovating old wooden houses. It is possible to use cellulose insulation also in larger houses made of stone or bricks, but its good characteristics come to light particularly well in wooden houses.
