To increase efficiency of the textile dyeing process, the company conducted cleaner production assessment and made the following changes to technological process: to separate wastewater streams from the textile dyeing machines with possibility to recycle water. Wastewater not suitable for recycling is released to the sewage treatment facility after heat is taken by the heat exchanger. Additionally the company implemented stream separation, volume and temperature closed control systems and a controler to control the textile dyeing process.


Environmental benefits:
-          Reduction in electrical energy consumption – almost 4300 kWh/ year;
-          Reduction in heat energy consumption – almost 4000 MWh/ year;
-          Water savings – 9000 m3/ year;
-          Reduction in chemicals consumption – 0.6 t/ year;
-          Reduction in polluted wastewater – 9000 m3/ year.

Total profit from the project implementation was almost 19 115 EUR/ year (payback period – 3.3 years)

Innovative aspects (ecologic, social and economic)

Optimisation of the operation in the textile dyeing process in the fabrics finishing department of textile manufacturing company focused on electrical and heat energy savings, water and chemicals savings, reduction in polluted wastewater and fuel oil consumption as well as on reduction of air emissions has clear economic and environmental benefits.
