Built to last in rough conditions

  • Several years of field experience has shown that many cheap systems will not withstand the rough conditions of aid missions for more than a few months. Disasters with equipment broken during transportation have happened just too often. What use do you have of the equipment if it is broken and needs vital spare parts to be put into operation?

  • The mobile Josab Aqualite™ System has filters in highest quality of stainless steel with frames, valves and piping in stainless steel. Avoiding main parts in plastic eliminate the risk of failure due to breakage.

  • The filters won’t break - even if tipped over or dragged on the ground. Further to this, the clever design without riser pipe eliminates the risk of riser pipe breakage causing filter media to escape into the drinking water.

  • The design of the Josab Aqualite™ System comes from years of field experience and the equipment is built to withstand rough conditions for many years.

Safer water

  • Many amoebas, parasites and bacteria causing serious water borne deceases are resistant to normal chlorine treatment why a purification system relying on chlorine only won’t offer protection against these.

  • Josab Aqualite™ System offers protection against bacteria such as Legionella, amoebas such as Entamoeba Histolytica and parasites like Cryptosporidium and Giardia Lamblia. On top of this, the system offers protection against viruses like Hepatitis and Polio.

Less environmental impact

  • Aqualite™ has the ability to reduce Ammonium, amoebas, parasites, bacteria etc. already in the filter bed.

  • Prolonged backwashing intervals means less water consumption.

  • More efficient backwashing due to lower density of the filter media – the filter bed “rises” easier, which has a positive effect on energy consumption.

  • Lower cut-off means higher particle reduction giving improved water clarity, which increases efficiency when using UV-filters – less energy consumption.

  • Lower cut-off means no need for flocculants (chemicals) to achieve sufficient purification.

Easy to operate

  • Correct dosing of flocculants is difficult and many parameters must be considered to achieve a good result. The correct ph-value has to be obtained otherwise the flocculation will not happen, the system must operate within limited flow rates for flocculation chambers to be effective etc. Standard filter systems relying on chemical dosing demands skilled staff for safe and successful operation.

  • The Josab Aqualite™ System doesn’t need flocculants and thus can staff without prior technical background operate the system.

  • Easy step-by-step manuals – just connect the hoses and switch on the unit.

  • Very short start-up period – a system can be up and running in less than 30 minutes

Less consumables

  • The pathogen reduction arises from three functions; one being a purely mechanical function of the filter media, the second being the absorption capability (the capability of mechanically attract/bind) of the filter media, the third being the UV-filter. The ability to reduce ammonium, amoebas, parasites, bacteria etc. means no need for chlorine in the purification process. The only chlorine dosing needed is purely for residual effect (WHO requirement between 0.2 and 0.5 ppm). 

  • With traditional systems based on the use of chemicals, the correct flocculants can sometimes be very difficult to find in remote areas. Without the flocculants the production of water will stop.

  • The Josab Aqualite™ System produces safe drinking water without chemicals year after year.

Improved T10-value

  • The efficiency of UV-filters is dependent on the water quality and the term T10-value is used to determine the clarity of the water - how much of the UV-lamp’s energy that in reality reaches into the water. The higher the T10-value the better the efficiency.

  • Since Aqualite™ is so efficient in purifying water a higher T10-value is achieved, which means that UV-filters become much more efficient.

Few moving parts mean less wear and less maintenance.

 Less environmental impact

  • The Aqualite™ has the ability to reduce Ammonium, bacteria etc. already in the filter bed, which means that less chlorine needs to be added to maintain correct level of free chlorine.

  • Less chlorine added also results in less bounded chlorine to control/reduce by e.g. dilution.

  • Less amount of water for dilution reduces water consumption.

  • Prolonged backwashing intervals means less water consumption.

  • The energy consumption is reduced when dilution water is reduces due to less water needing heating up.

  • More efficient backwashing due to lower density of the filter media – the filter bed “rises” easier, which has a positive effect on energy consumption.

  • Lower cut-off means higher particle reduction giving improved water clarity, which increases efficiency when using UV-filters – less energy consumption.

  • Lower cut-off means less flocculants (chemicals) to achieve sufficient purification.

Less consumables
  • The Aqualite™ has the ability to reduce Ammonium, bacteria etc. already in the filter bed, which means that less chlorine needs to be added to maintain correct level of free chlorine.
  • The initial ammonium reduction is due to Ion-exchanging/adsorption – The adsorption capacity of Aqualite™ is significantly better than other Zeolites commonly used for water treatment. Secondly the so-called Anoxic process will take over, which means that regeneration of the filter media is superfluous. 

  • The bacteria reduction arises from two functions; one being a purely mechanical function, the other being the absorption capability (the capability of mechanically attract/bind) of the filter media.

  • The ability to reduce ammonium, bacteria etc. means less chlorine consumption.

  • Lower cut-off means less flocculants (chemicals) to achieve sufficient purification.

  • Studies show up to 35 % reduction of chemical consumption and up to 50 % reduction of water consumption.

Lower cut-off

  • Aqualite™ has a much higher particle reduction efficiency than other commonly used filter media for pool water purification. Particles down to the size of 1 –2 microns are reduced in Aqualite™, while corresponding figures for regular pool filter media is only 25-50 microns.

Significant water clarity

  • More efficient particle reduction means clearer water.

  • In addition the Aqualite™ also has a positive effect on “invisible” water- and air- pollutants such as chloramines, which improves the bathing experience.

Improved T10-value

  • UV-filtration in pool water treatment is becoming more common.

  • The efficiency of UV-filters is dependent on the water quality and the term T10-value is used to determine the clarity of the water - how much of the UV-lamp’s energy that in reality reaches into the water. The higher the T10-value the better the efficiency.

Since Aqualite™ is so efficient in purifying water a higher T10-value is achieved, which means that UV-filters become much more efficient. The compact systems have a high efficiency despite their size. Up to 100 m³ of water can be filtered per hour and particles as small as 1-2 microns are filtered out. Aqualite even reduces heavy metals, petroleum products as well as bacteria, parasites and amoebas. The treatment facilities also have UV-radiation installed to further increase the protection against heterotrophs, coliforms, coli bacteria and parasites.

Drinking_water                                                                                                                   
The Josab Aqualite™ System has been developed to produce drinking water in accordance with the WHO’s guidelines for safe drinking water.
   
Our standard water purification system is based on the use of a pressure filter containing the mineral Aqualite™. This technique provides purification without any chemical additives
 
The units are able to filter out particles down to the size of 1-2 micron and the treatment capacity ranges between 0,5-100 m3 per hour. The addition of UV light allows for a complete removal of, for example, heterotrophs, coliforms and E. coli bacteria, as well as Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium parasites. 
 
The system is patent protected and in use within the UN system.
 
The Josab Aqualite™ System / Aqualite™ filter media can also be used for  Swimming Pools, Gardening and Aquatic Breeding.
